PORTLAND ARCH, Ind. - Scott Gordon Fleenor, 54, of rural Covington, Ind., (Portland Arch) passed away at 6:07 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at his home.
Scott was born in Danville, Ill., on February 28, 1963. He is the son of Gordon and Nancy (Starkey) Fleenor of Portland Arch.
Scott was raised in Covington, Ind., later moving to the Tampa Bay area in Florida. He graduated from Brandon High School in Florida in 1981. He recently moved back to the Portland Arch area in 2013.
Scott was a self-employed artist and graphic designer.
He enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed kayaking on the Wabash River. People would recognize him in his orange KIA with his kayak sticking out the back of the car. He also enjoyed hiking and backpacking. In his early years he ran track and his specialty was long distance. He liked to ride his bicycle and it wasn't anything for him to ride up to 60 miles at a time.
On Nov. 11, 2000, Scott married Wendy Lee Schrader in Safety Harbor, Fla.
He leaves behind his wife, Wendy of 17 years; his parents Gordon and Nancy Fleenor of Portland Arch, Ind.; a brother, Michael Fleenor, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mary (Cory) Neupauer, Lakeland, Fla., Vicky Meier, Indianapolis, and Cindy (Brad) Baum, Wakarusa, Ind.
Per Scott's final request, cremation has been accorded and no services planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter, 103 S. Market St., Attica, IN 47918.
