Roy D. Ranciville passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Roy was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Cairo, Ill., the son of Roy and Annie Ranciville.
He married the love of his life, whom he affectionally call her "Mother" Cheryl Clark on March 27, 1989 and she survives.
Roy worked as an Inspector at General Motors Company, Danville, where he later retired. Roy was an avid sports fan, he loved watching First Take with Steven Smith, and Western movies. In the summer and good weather, he loved to take his pride and joy, his low rider truck (affectionately named Jr.) for a cruise through the city and abroad.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cheryl Ranciville; three sons: Fred McCreary; Keith Brigham and Sean (Marnisha) Brigham; 17 grandchildren: Latoya Turner, Erica Turner, Kizzy Perry, Alex McCreary, Andrew McCreary, Aaron and Lisa McCreary, Helena Brigham, Yamil Cruz, Emil Cruz, Benjamin Clark, Keith Brigham, Kei'Anna Brigham, Kei'Sean Brigham, Imani Brigham, Kendi Brigham, and Kai Brigham; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Earl (Paula) Watkins and Bob (Sussie) Watson; brothers-in-law: Min. Elroy Clark, Larry Clark and Bernard Clark; sisters-in-law: Jackie Short, Angela Clark and Lisa Clark; special niece: Florence Parsons; special nephews: Lennell (Nick) Dumas and Montrice Short; special cousins: Etha Dickerson, Rene and Duane Courick, Ruth and Pat Lloyd, and Mary Hill Redmon; and a host of family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy; and sisters, Gladys Ranciville and Bessie Adams.
Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12 noon on Saturday, April 22, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman St. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Officiating: Pastor Ken L. McCray. Interment will be at Springhill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., in charge of arrangements.
