Rosella "Rose"'s Story
DANVILLE - Rosella "Rose" DeLaurier, 80, of Danville, passed away at 11:17 p.m. on March 7, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Mich.
Rose was born on Dec. 24, 1936 the daughter of Delbert and Mary Smith in Grand Haven, Mich.
She married John James DeLaurier, Jr. on June 29, 1957 in Fruitport, Mich. to whom she was married for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2013.
Survivors include one son, John James (Brenda) DeLaurier, III of Danville; one daughter, Deborah Smith of Midland, Mich.; four grandchildren, Tanner (Ali) DeLaurier of Danville, Robert (Nicole) Smith of Battle Creek, Mich., Melissa Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Christopher Smith of Midland, Mich.; as well as four great-grandchildren, Selena, Alexis, Cole and Trinity.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and one sister, Betty Wheeler.
Rose is a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene and was retired from Peterson/CCL in Danville. She was active with the Senior Groups at her church for many years. She enjoyed camping, taking trips to Tennessee, Big Rock and simply being outdoors with her family. She also liked to shop with her daughter and daughter-in-law and enjoyed joking around with her entire family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, at Southside Church of the Nazarene, 1629 King Street Tilton, IL 61833. Pastor Kent Pitcher will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Danville. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. March 13, at the church in Tilton.
