FAIRMOUNT - Robert Lee Hart, 91, of Fairmount, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville, Ill.
Robert was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Fithian, Ill., to Frank and Amy B Nevielle Hart.
He married Gladys Knight on Aug. 23, 1952, in Nashville, Tenn.
He is survived by the girls, Linda (Mario) Biava and Janet Payne of Westville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his son, Jon R. Hart; one daughter, Nancy Jane; two brothers; and two sisters.
Robert was retired as a foreman at Southern States Seed Corn in Muncie, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Korean War Veterans Chapter, the VFW, the Ceremonial Funeral Detail Squad, the Kickapoo Ex-POW and Muncie Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing and lawn work but his greatest passion was farming. The girls provided loving care at his home until November and wish to thank the staff at Building 101 Community Living Center for the care and affection they provided over the last 10 weeks.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Ill., with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian, with military honors. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
