Richard "Dick"'s Story
Services for Richard "Dick" Leon Hillard, 63, of Tyler, Texas, will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler with Rev. Mike Daniels and Rev. Bob Logan officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Hillard passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Tyler.
He was born April 18, 1953, in Danville, to Purl Leon and Sylvia Marie Ping Hillard.
Dick loved The Lord and his family. He was a loyal friend and honest man. He was unselfish and gave of his time and resources to his church and to others. Anyone who knew him liked him and called him friend. He was very loved and will be dearly missed.
He was an auto body technician in his younger years, an automotive machinist for many years, and owned East Texas Head Repair. He opened Alpha Building Systems and built over 1000 metal buildings from 1992-2012. He was currently building homes with the family business, Hillard Homes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Emanuel, Paul and Johnny; infant sister, Gillette; as well as a nephew and a niece.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Judith Hillard of Tyler; daughters, Lisa Watson and husband Richard, Shannon Logan and husband Bobby; son, Richard S. Hillard and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Natalie Logan Wright and husband Jeffrey, Katy Logan, Keaton, Karter and Ella Hillard, Malarie Watson Thurston and husband Tony, Kasara, and Sam Watson; great-grandchildren, Sigmund, Claire, and Sophia; sisters, Barbara Howie, Joyce Grubb, Cheryl Bartlow, and Darlene Odom and their families; brothers, David, Phillip, Dennis, and Donald Hillard and their families; and sisters and brother-in-law, Janet Hillard, Carol Mayfield and families.
Pallbearers will be Richard S. Hillard, Bobby Logan, Keaton Hillard, Karter Hillard, Jeremy Hillard, Phil Hillard and Jeffrey Wright.
