Raymond William Bailey, 58 of Henning, left us suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street, in Danville. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Kevin Purdy officiating. The family requests that everyone wear their favorite Sports Apparel to the services, as Ray was a casual guy.
Raymond was born on Jan. 8, 1958, in Danville, to Donald and Wilma (Lambert) Bailey. He attended Oakwood schools and graduated from OHS in 1976. Raymond was a truck driver for over 20 years and enjoyed the solitude and traveling all over the country. He was a sports enthusiast, especially the Green Bay Packers, who he has loved since childhood. His other favorites include the Cubs and the Illini. Raymond was a family man, and could often be found camping or on the beach, with his wife and children.
Raymond leaves behind his wife, Dianne (Brutlag) Bailey, whom he has shared over 24 years of marriage with. He also leaves behind his two children: Tyler and Shay and three grandchildren: Madison and Olivia Bailey, and Izaiah Forrest. Raymond will also be greatly missed by his mother, Wilma Mount, and his siblings: Diane Varvel, Kathy (Robert) Mattingly, Steven (Robin) Bailey, and Penny Walls; his two sister-in-laws: Brenda (Mark) Thomas and Cheryl (Ben) Davis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Michael Bailey; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Varvel.
Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.papefuneral.com, or on the Pape Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
