Norma Jean's Story
N. Jean Grayson, 70, of Danville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Presence Covenant, Urbana. She was born March 25, 1946, in Danville, the daughter of Robert and Margret Bowling. Jean goes to be with her loving husband, Pete, who passed away recently.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Melissa Grayson and Karen Costigan; her five grandchildren, Ryan Grayson, April Grayson, Emily Grayson, Tabatha Costigan, and Heather Costigan; close family friends, Tyler McCoy and Cody Crawley; and her five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Maddie, Aiden, Riley, and Isaiah; many nieces and nephews; her friends, Tanya and Claudean; and her precious dog, Bandit. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Bowling; and her sister, Patsy Rose.
Jean and Pete were married on June 19, 1965. She was a housewife who joked she never gets to retire. She devoted her life to taking care of her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. They would go to the park for lunches and play dates, swim in the pool together and travel. Everyone loved Grandma's house! Jean was truly the matriarch, the best friend, the counselor, and the protector of her family. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, 3901 N Vermilion St, Danville, with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E South Main St, Oakwood, prior to her service at the graveside.
Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
