Matthew Allan Hoffman, 23, of Westville, passed away at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He was born on Jan. 26, 1993, the son of David A. Hoffman and Tammy Hoffman. His mother preceded him in death.
He is survived by his father, David (Milissa) Hoffman of Westville; his sister, Shaley Hoffman; his step-brothers, Derek Peterson, Dustin Peterson, and James Woolwine; his step-sister, Carley Woolwine; and his special friend, Tiffany Trussell of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandra Hoffman-Miller and his friends, Chance Kistler, Joey Chapman, and Alex McMahon.
Matthew was known to many as the "Gentle Giant". He loved fishing, football, and hanging out with his friends. He also loved to watch NASCAR, play Monopoly, and build model cars. Whenever little kids were around, he would be their best playmate. His family and friends will remember him dearly and that he was only allowed "one solo-cup". He cherished his family and friends and they will all miss his presence in their lives.
A celebration of Matthew's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, IL 61883. Visitation will be held two hours prior on Saturday at the funeral home. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and later laid to rest in Sandusky Cemetery.
