DANIVLLE - Matthew Edward Brown, 45, of Danville, left this earth from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at 9:18 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016. He stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior at that very moment.
He was born to Vernon and Carol Griesheimer Brown in Kettering, Ohio on July 4, 1971. While growing up in Dayton, Ohio, he had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home being the youngest of five siblings.
Matthew attended Dayton Christian School. He graduated from Cedarville University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. He then attended Wright State University earning a Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 1995. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, he worked in the areas of community counseling, family counseling, crisis and substance abuse.
While at Cedarville University, Matthew met his wife, April Johnston and they were married on July 6, 1996, in Danville. For the past 20 years, they invested in their marriage and into the lives of their two beautiful daughters. He continually strived to grow in his person relationship with Christ as well as in his professional training. He believed in supporting and serving people in his church, Grape Creek Baptist Church, and in the community. He enjoyed music, reading, traveling, all-things Star Wars and spending time with his family and friends.
Matthew is survived by his wife, April, and their daughters Catherine Fleming Brown and Lillian Booker Brown all of Danville; his parents, Vernon and Carol Brown of Dayton, Ohio; in-laws: Louis and Kate Hablas of Tilton; and his siblings, David (Kelly) Brown of Monroe, Ohio, Michael (Carol) Brown of Centerville, Ohio, Brenda (Ken) Caldwell of Panama City, Fla., and Joy Wiltshire of West Chester, Ohio. He had 11 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother-in-law, Dennis Wiltshire.
A celebration of Matthew's life with be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at Grape Creek Baptist Church with Pastor David Leary officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15 at Grape Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Danville.
