FAIRMOUNT - Mary Puzey, 91, lifelong Jamaica and Fairmount area resident and farm wife, passed away peacefully at 2:32 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at her home.
Mary was born March 25, 1925, in Jamaica to George B. and Rosa Alice Hart Darr.
She married Lloyd W. Puzey on Nov. 27, 1944, in Watsonville, Calif. Lloyd passed away Nov. 3, 1991.
Mary was a devoted mother to two sons, Harold W. (Janet) Puzey of Fairmount and Alan L. (Susan) Puzey of Fairmount; and four daughters, Annette Zeigler of Fairmount, Carol J. (David) Harden of Fairmount, Elaine M. (Pat) O'Shaughnessy of Danville, and Lisa J. (Tim) Bueter of Danville. Also surviving are two brothers, Dane (Mary Lou) Darr of Fairmount and David (Evelyn) Darr of Fairmount; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Tom Zeigler; two brothers and their wives, Charles (Mary Elizabeth) Darr and Paul (Margaret) Darr; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (Ralph) Diel.
Mary was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She helped with funeral dinners and was active in the church's Labor Day festivities. She belonged to the Jamaica School PTA and was a Mom to all who entered her home. She especially enjoyed hosting the traditional Sunday dinner for the family.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. Father Robert Hoffman to officiate. Burial in Davis Cemetery west of Fairmount. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Robison Chapel in Catlin.
