OAKWOOD - Marilyn K. Anker, 67, of Oakwood, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
Marilyn was born on Oct. 3, 1948, in Danville, the daughter of Willis Langford and Mildred Rodgers.
She married Roger Anker on Sept. 4, 1966 in Danville. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Evans of Shelburne, Vt. and Connie (David) Young of Oakwood; one brother, Melvin Langford of Danville; one sister, Marla (Jay) Garrett of Westville; six grandchildren, Carlee Evans, Miranda Evans, Jackson Evans, Katelyn Young, Josh Young, and Nathan Young. She was preceded in death by both parents.
Marilyn enjoyed card making with her weekly card group, ceramics, and decorating for holidays. She was a constant positive influence on her daughters' lives, with her unwavering support and guidance. She was a big believer in Paying it Forward, whether through handing out stars to hospital and nursing home staff, babysitting her grandchildren down the street, cheering at sporting events, or daily calls to her family in Vermont. Her thoughtful, authentic compassion will resonate and live on through her children and grandchildren.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. Burial in Stearns Cemetery. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Robison Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakwood Grade School "Supply Closet Fund" to be used for classroom supplies, and helping families with things like doctor visits, clothing, holiday gifts, etc. On-line condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
