Margaret 'Peg''s Story

Margaret "Peg" Joanne (Auter) McKee, 74, of Battle Ground, Ind., passed away September 25, 2017, at "St. Elizabeth" Franciscan Health East.
Peg was born in Covington, Ind., to the late Charles and Edith (Bodine) Auter on December 27, 1942. She graduated from Covington High School.
She graduated from the Indianapolis University School of Nursing and married Donald McKee on June 8, 1968, in Covington.
After their marriage, Peg worked as a nurse for many years at Lafayette Home Hospital and for Doctor McAdams. Peg also worked at the Veterans' Home. She eventually retired from nursing and worked at the Purdue University Parking Facilities Office.
Peg's hobbies included sewing, quilting, baking and cooking. She was involved with the Card Club as a euchre player and volunteered for various events, occasions, and organizations.
Peg is preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Jeff and Donald Auter.
Peg is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Tim McKee from Battle Ground, Thom McKee (wife Cassie) from Granville, Ohio, and Tedd McKee from Boston, Mass.; her brother, James Auter (wife Judy); her sisters, Mary Katherine Woodrow (husband Max), Susan Linker and Judi Van Hook (husband John); her sisters-in-law, Judy Auter and Sandy Auter; her grandchildren, Dianne Turner (husband Sean) from Burleson, Texas, Sarah McKee from Granville, Ohio, Gabrielle McKee from Burleson, Texas, and Samuel McKee from Granville, Ohio. She also was an aunt to several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. EDT Saturday, Sept. 30, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. EDT. Pastor Terry Brammer is officiating. Private inurnment at a later date.
