Lois Ann Hargis
Apr 4, 1944 - Feb 10, 2017
Lois Ann Hargis, 72, of Tilton, passed away on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street, in Danville, from 4-7 p.m. Per her wishes, she will be cremated following services.
Lois was born on April 4, 1944, in Danville, to Coy and Opal (Reynolds) York. She attended Danville schools, graduating in the early sixties and going on to attend classes at DACC. Lois worked many jobs throughout the years but more recently drove a school bus for Danville and Bismarck Schools, and CRIS Rural Transportation. She loved playing BINGO and was often found at the UAW Hall, and enjoyed bowling, on leagues and for fun, most recently a part of The Morning Glories league. Lois liked to read anything she could get her hands on and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and gardening when she could. She was also a people person, a collector of people if you will, and loved to socialize; her family was the most important thing in her life.
Lois married Christian A. Wentz and the two had three children together; he has since passed away. She later married Louis Silagy and he preceded her in death as well. On June 16, 1995, Lois married Everett Hargis and the two have spent the past 22 years together and he survives. Also surviving are six children: Viki (Harold) Heffern, Rob (Kim) Wentz, Richard (Patty) Wentz, Melvin (Patty) Sanford, Barton Sanford, and Andrew (Erica) Hargis; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Mary Elder, Robert (Pam) York, and Rick (Suzanne) York. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first two husbands and two infant daughters.
