Karen Lee Styer, 57, passed away on July 22, 2016 at Danville Care Center on Bowman Avenue. She had been a resident there since December of 2013. She battled cancer for several years.
Karen was born on Sept. 12, 1958, in Danville, and was the youngest child of Robert K. and Betty L. (Wangler) Styer. She graduated from Danville High School in 1976 and worked at Zayre and Steel Grip Safety Apparel.
She married Phillip Perlinski on Sept. 12, 2009 in Elburn, Ill. Phillip died suddenly on May 29, 2011. While living in Elburn, Karen worked at AT&T. After being diagnosed with cancer she returned to Danville.
Karen loved dogs. Her last pet was Autumn, a cocker spaniel. She also enjoyed cooking and watching the Food Network. More than anything she loved being around family and friends. She had a very generous spirit and made a many friends at the Danville Care Center.
Karen is survived by a sister, Carol S. (Daniel E.) Packard; a brother, Robert A. (Karan) Styer; a brother, Ronald D. (Colombe) Styer; a brother, Russell E. (Pricilla) Styer; and a sister Dianne "Lynn" (Steven) Collins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Donna I. Styer; a great-niece, Kelsey B. Creek; a nephew, Robert N. Styer; and a nephew, Daniel K. Packard.
Services will be held at Second Church of Christ, in Danville, on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. There will be no graveside service. Drew Mentzer and Ben Crostreet will officiate.
