DANVILLE - Juanita M. Williams, 88, died peacefully Aug. 25, 2016, at Presence Covenant Hospital in Urbana. Juanita was born May 18, 1928, in Watseka, the daughter of Preston Hedgecock and Laura Holcutt.
During WWII, Juanita worked at the Armory in Kankakee. In 1945, Juanita married Billy S. Williams, starting their family in Danville. In 1956 they moved out West to Los Angeles, Calif., completing their family with their fourth child in 1957. In addition to being a homemaker, Juanita was an avid bowler, loved a good poker game with her friends, and enjoyed time spent with family.
In addition to raising their four children she also volunteered with the Institute for the Blind in L.A., driving the students to lessons. Juanita and Bill were married for 36 years until she was widowed in 1981.
In 1988, Juanita married Robert Williams and they moved back to Illinois in 1994. Juanita lost Robert in 1996. She continued living independently in Potomac for the rest of her life.
Juanita is survived by her sisters, Pat Short and Shirley (Walt) Roskowski; her children, Jackie Tansey, Rhonda White, Stewart (Diane)Williams and Pamela (Robert) Ponzi; her two step-children, Stephanie Ferguson and Vince (Linda)Williams. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life in Potomac on Aug. 31, at the American Legion Post at 6 p.m. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to any Veterans' organization, or to St Jude Children's Hospital.
