CATLIN - Juanita F. Cord, 84, of Catlin, was called to the gardens of Heaven with her family at her side at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the Villas of Gardenview in Danville.
She was born July 7. 1932, in Fithian, Ill., to Harry "Erbie" and Mabel Knight Renfro.
Juanita married Gilbert R. Cord on Dec. 2. 1951, at Catlin Church of Christ. They shared 60 years of marriage. Gilbert passed away April 13. 2011.
Survivors include; two sons, Terry (Becky) Cord of Jamestown, Ind., and Steve (Jennifer) Cord of Catlin; daughter, Judy (Dana) Jolley of Fithian, Ill.; her grandchildren, Brittany (Robert) Edward, Jacob (Amanda) Cord, Caleb Cord, Chelsea Cord, Kendra (Brad) Mahoney and Stephanie (Sean) Beeker; two step-grandchildren, Stacey (Ben) Cushwa and Brad Jolley; 10 great-grandchildren, Alan Cord, Kyle Cord, Tyler Cord, Logan Beeker, Amya Edward, Kaden Edward, Chase Edward, Wyatt Cord, Nora Mahoney and Patrick Mahoney; and a step-grandson: Brady Jolley.
Juanita had been a dietary supervisor at Americana Healthcare in Danville for 20 years. She also served as produce manager at Catlin IGA and was a cook in several local restaurants, as well as Camp Drake. She graduated Oakwood High School, was a member of Central Park Church of Christ and attended Catlin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, and birds, as well as traveling. She was a member of the Catlin Historical Society.
She was a proud mother, grandmother and "Mammaw" who embraced every event her family participated in.
Juanita was a self-taught cake decorator, and an accomplished cook & baker. She greatly enjoyed her little dog Lily snuggled by her side. Above all things she was proud of her faith and service to Jesus Christ.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Pastor Raymie Gordon to officiate. Burial: OakRidge Cemetery at Catlin. Visitation: noon until service time Thursday at Robison Chapel.
