John "Bob"'s Story
John Robert "Bob" Fretty, 82, of Danville, passed away at 3:06 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016. John was born in Rankin, on June 10, 1934. He was the son of John Fretty and Charlotte (Hedworth) Fretty.
On Nov. 3, 1957, John married the love of his life, Sharon Sue (Prast) Fretty, she survives.
Also surviving are son, Kevin Fretty of Danville; two daughters, Debra (Ken) Gill of Danville, Karin (Carl) Merrill of Williamsport; one sister, Charlotte (Ray) Findley; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Fretty, Michael Gill, Alex Merrill, Will Gill; and two faithful friends, Fowler Connell and Charlie Dyer.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
John was a very hard worker spending 42 years at the Commercial-News working as an ad services manager. Before working, John graduated Cannon Elementary School in 1948 and Danville High School class of 1952. John was a member of Kiwanis International Foundation and in September of 2007 was awarded the George F. Hixson Fellowship. In his spare time, John enjoyed tending his roses in his beloved garden, cheering on the Cubs or planning his yearly vacation to Florida where he loved relaxing on the beach. John was also very involved with Bethel Lutheran Church where he had been attending since a very young age. John will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
John's family would like thank the staff at Hawthorne Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Danville. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Cremation Center at a later date. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
