Jimmie E. Koenig, 78, of Danville, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Raymie Gordon. officiating. Per his wishes, Jimmie will be cremated following his services.
Jimmie was born July 30, 1938, in Cook County, Illinois, to Edward and Cilia (Vondrak) Koenig. He attended schools in the Chicago area before moving to Danville.
Jimmie held many odd jobs throughout the years, finishing his career as a janitor for Circle K. He enjoyed spending time with others and could often be found playing Bingo and watching WWE wrestling. Jimmie also was an avid Cubs fan who rarely missed a game.
Jimmie leaves behind his loving family, Betsy Smith, Justin Spurgeon, Tiffany (Daniel) Malaga Xolo, Terion Taylor, Katina Smith (Terry Severado), Tori (Austin West) Brigham, Melissa (Jaime) Bravo, Rigoberto (Juli Fourez)Torres, Guy Smith, and Gladys Miller, along with many great friends, nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
