Jerry S. Lunger, age 77, of Chrisman, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Jerry was born April 9, 1939, in Chrisman, to Hugh Drexel and Cleo Gertrude (Stultz) Lunger.
He married Patricia Shaw on Sept. 4, 1960 at Chrisman First Baptist Church. Jerry was a teacher at Danville High School and retired in 1993. After retirement, he was a substitute teacher at Chrisman and Shiloh schools and enjoyed farming, both for Lorenzen Farms and on his own small farm where he also spent much time working with and teaching his grandchildren about agriculture. He was a loving and devoted grandpa, and never missed any activity his grandchildren participated in for as long as his heath allowed. Jerry was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and was a member at Chrisman First Baptist Church and Friends Chapel Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Lunger; two children: Troy Dean (Michelle) Lunger of Chrisman and Tasha Carol (Steve) Lawrence of Charleston, Ill.; a sister: Shirley (Dave) Lorenzen of Chrisman; a brother: James Lunger of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren: Tyler, Jordyn and Hannah Lunger ,and MacKenzie, Montana, and Jalen Scroggins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter: Tina Faith Lunger Scroggins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, from 4-6 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hoult Cemetery.
