Jay Woodard, 70, passed away at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo., Sept. 6.
Jay was born to Ivan Ned and Thelma Woodard May 28, 1946. He attended Danville High School and graduated from William Jewel College, Liberty, Mo. He spent his professional life in teaching first in Aux Vases, Mo. He then moved to Danville High School where he taught public speaking, worked as an assistant football coach, and later as dean. He remained at DHS until moving to Colorado in 1993. He worked in school administration in Rifle, Colo. and later in Colorado Springs.
He is proceeded in death by his parents. He leaves behind daughter, Jenna (Matt) Hlushak of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister, Lynn (Darryl) Eslinger of Danvers, Ill.; along with nieces, Cris (Andrew) Stephenson of Mackinaw, Michelle (Alex) Locke of Chicago and Heather Eslinger of Chicago; as well as one grand-niece, Madelyn Locke.
He loved his family and took great interest in his many friends. He enjoyed every learning situation available to him. He was an avid dancer and music lover. His passing leaves an unfillable gap in the lives of those who loved him.
A memorial service is being planned. Memorials can be made to Pike Peak Library District, Colorado Spring.
