DANVILLE - Nancy "Jan" Scott, 63, of Urbana, Ill., passed away at 6:34 a.m. April 17, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center in Paxton, Ill.
Jan was born Aug. 24, 1953, the daughter of Glen D. and Jeanne (Stull) Scott in Danville, Ill.
Survivors include her parents, Glen and Jeanne Scott of Danville, and one sister, Laurie A. Scott of Danville.
She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jan was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. She graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., with a bachelor's degree in history and was a retired paralegal with the University of Illinois Legal Counsel Office.
Jan was an avid reader and even penned some of her own works. She was known for her great sense of humor and could always find the "odd angle" no one else saw. While Jan was direct and to the point, she was a very loving and caring person and would always make people laugh.
Jan was a die-hard Illini fan and enjoyed attending U of I basketball and football games with her father. Most of all, Jan loved her parents and sister dearly. She will be greatly missed by them and all who were lucky enough to have known her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Rev. James Gerald Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
