Covington, IND. - James O. Flick, 95, of Covington, passed away on Dec. 1, 2016, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1921, in Bristol, Tenn., the son of Hugh and Mollie Ann (Gentry) Taylor. He married Eileen N. Rayl in Danville on May 2, 1964, and she preceded him in death in 2004.
James will be deeply missed by his children, Paul Flick of Danville, Dolores (Orick) Nightlinger of Danville, Linda (Ron) Cates of West Lebanon, Ind., Sandy Dale Harper of Perrysville, Ind.; brothers, Everett (Sylvia) Flick of Bristol, Tenn., and Ople Flick of Phoenix, Ariz.; 30 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Sharon Clapper and Doris Moore; sons, Lester and Mike Harper; 5 sisters; 4 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
James served the country in the Army Air Core from 1941-1945 then began work at General Motors for several years. After his time at GM he worked at Jacobs Manufacturing in Danville and retired from the Danville VA. He was an avid supporter of veteran's organizations, the Humane Society and Covington American Legion Post No. 0291. James loved to garden and stay active mowing and helping out at First Church of Christ where he was a devoted member.
A celebration of James' life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. EST at Sunset's Covington Chapel 420 Third St. Covington, IN 47932 with Pastor Eddy Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington.
