Harold "Hoot"'s Story
Indianola - Harold Hoot Craig, 91, well- known longtime operator of Craigs Dairy Farm, passed away 12:45 am on Friday, July 7, 2017 at his home along with his wife June.
Harold was born March 27, 1926 near Collison, IL to William J. & Vera Gutteridge Craig. He married June Edmonds on October 15, 1948 at the brides parents home in Georgetown, Illinois. Surviving are: two daughters: Janey (Kim) Jolley of Fairmount, IL and Gaile (Bob) Sekerka of Lockport, IL; one grandson: Kevin (Kara) Jolley; and two great-grandchildren: Kya and Kaelyn Jolley3. He was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Kathryn) Craig.
Harold served in the US Army and owned and operated Craig Dairy Farms for over fifty years. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting, riding and sports. He was a Cubs fan. He had served on the Indianola Grade School Board. He been a Carroll Township election judge and served on the Carroll Township board. He was a member of the Georgetown American Legion.
Public visitation 4 to 7 pm Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Catlin Church of Christ. Private family graveside rites will be conducted at Woodlawn cemetery, Indianola with military honors. Memorials to the Woodlawn Cemetery Association or the Carroll Township Fire Protection District. Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois is handling the arrangements.
