DANVILLE - Glen D. Scott, 84, of Danville, passed away Sept. 18, 2017, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
Glen was born Dec. 16, 1932, the son of Clarence and Hildreth (Clingan) Scott in Fithian. He married Jeanne Stull on June 14, 1952, in Danville, and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together.
Glen is survived by his wife, Jeanne Scott of Danville; one daughter, Laurie Scott of Danville; three brothers, James E. Scott of Danville, Wayne R. Scott of Oakwood and C. J. Scott of Nashville, Tenn.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy "Jan" Scott on April 17, 2017; as well as two sisters, Garnet Reynolds and Thelma Bradley.
Glen worked in sales for the Harry F. Beach Company for 10 years. In 1973, Glen bought the company and renamed it Great Scott! Paper & Janitorial. Great Scott! was chosen because many people who called to speak to Glen would ask for "Great Scott." Health issues led to the sale of Great Scott! as we retired in 2010. Glen was appreciative of keeping "his" business local when Jim Christison bought the business and included it in Danville Paper Co. Glen played basketball in the Independent Basketball League in the Danville area for more than 13 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville. James Gerald Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, from 5 - 7 pm. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, 14775 Catlin Tilton Road, Danville, or the St. James United Methodist Church Food Bank, 504 N. Vermilion Street, Danville.
Please join Glen's family in sharing memories, photos and videos on his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
