George A. Johnson, 65, of Danville, passed away at 11:15 a.m. April 26, 2017, at home.
He was born March 2, 1952, in Danville, the son of Donald and Velma (Ellis) Johnson.
George graduated from Georgetown High School in 1970. He accepted the Lord and became a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. He was baptized on April 11, 2010.
George worked at Tee-Pak Company for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan and favored the Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
George is survived by five sisters, Dollie (LeRoy) Anderson of Champaign, Sandra (John) Coe of Danville, Carolyn Newell of Sugar Land, Texas, Clemouth (Larry) Thomas and Ellen Rae Johnson of Georgetown and one brother, Wayne (Kim) Johnson of Danville. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Johnson Jr.; and two sisters, Barbara Murray and Doris Lewis.
A Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Leek& Sons Funeral Home, 304 East Williams Street, Danville. The family will be present at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Joe W. Glass Jr. will give Words of Comfort.
