Mrs. Oliver was a long-time member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was director of ushers and president of the senior usher board. Every year she was selected as one of the team captains for the annual Women's Day fundraising effort in support of the church's building fund.

Mrs. Oliver's hobbies were sewing and cooking. She also was a caregiver and financial manager for many family members and friends.
