Frances Joanna Rush, 81, of Wellington, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born at her home in East Lynn on Aug. 11, 1935, the daughter of George Francis and Joanna Edna (Mutton) Anderson. She married Dale L. Rush on Oct. 1, 1960, at the East Lynn United Methodist Church in East Lynn. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo (Jimmy) Polson of Hoopeston, and Vicki (Steve) Whiteman of Stafford, Va.; one brother, Richard (Donna) Anderson of Danville; two grandchildren, Matthew Whiteman and Jessica (Raymond) McConnell; one great-grandson, Jack McConnell; one brother-in-law, Phil (Fawn) Rush and two sisters-in-law, Judie Rush and Gayla Rush. She is also survived by two special adopted daughters who were like family, Deb Webb of Fredericksburg, Va., and Brenda (Bob) Alexander of Clinton, Ind.; 11 nieces, Lisa, Michelle, Kristi, Karey, Kaelan, Gabrielle, Shannon, Amy, Tab, Traci and Shannon; 10 nephews, John A, Brad, Todd, John, Brett, Josh, Dan, Nick, Chris and Bruce; several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jim; one sister-in-law, Pat and one brother-in-law, Richard Rush.
Joanna was a homemaker and helped with her husband's business, Rush Repair. She and her husband also owned and operated Montgomery Ward in Hoopeston. She was a member of the Wellington United Methodist Church. Joanna also belonged to the Hoopeston Jay mates, the wives of the Hoopeston Jaycees. She enjoyed watching her daughters and nieces and nephews participate in sporting events. She also enjoyed yearly get-to-gathers with the 210 gang, attending the East Lynn Alumni banquet and the August birthday girls' lunches. Joanna's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the funeral home, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
