Erick's Story

ARMSTRONG - Erick Adams-Esgrow died June 4, 2016 in California. He was born Gerald Frederick Adams Jr. to Susan Cannon and Jerry Adams, in Urbana, on Dec. 2, 1978. He was raised in Armstrong where he was a member of Armstrong-Ellis Scholastic Bowl Team. The family moved to Iowa Park, Texas in 1993. He played numerous instruments in the school and various garage bands.
After high school, Erick moved to Austin, Texas. He worked in the on-line game industry as an in-game support representative for World of Warcraft, at Blizzard, then advanced to become a community manager at companies like Bioware, Trion Worlds and Electronic Arts. In 2013, he transitioned into a woman and became Claudia Jean Louise Adams. She moved to Belmont, Calif. and helped manage communities for games like Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rift and Wild Star. She had an awesome sense of humor, and was a great food lover and passionate political activist.
Survivors include Claudia's mother; step-father, Garland Gibson; wife, Julia Adams-Esgrow; ex-wife Ashley Adams; brothers, Paul and Vincent; sisters, Lori Taylor, Lydia Adams and Lyla Gideon; sons, Morgan and Revan; daughter, Charlotte; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be 10 a.m. July 1, in Middlefork Methodist Church. Following a graveside service in Partlow Cemetery there will be visitation and potluck at Potomac American Legion building until 4 p.m. Please come and share memories.
Memorials can be made to Faith Mission, Wichita Falls, Texas. Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, is assisting the family.
