Eleanor Simon Fleming, 92, of Danville went to her heavenly home on Feb. 20th, 2017.
She was born April 29, 1924, in Princeton, Ill., to Franz and Laura Barr Simon. Eleanor grew up on the family farm, graduating from Princeton High School as a member of the Honor Society and honored as Best Girl Citizen in her class.
After attending Blackburn College, Eleanor married her high school sweetheart, Art Fleming, on March 5, 1945.
Eleanor and Art moved to Danville in the early 1950s where she supported him in their business of homebuilding and land development. She was devoted and ever encouraging to her family.
Eleanor was active in the Danville community for decades serving a variety of organizations including Girl Scouts , PTA and First Presbyterian Church. She had a keen interest in furthering every child's opportunities and education.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved children, Jan (Bill) Golseth, Tom Fleming, Nancy Fleming and Barb Fleming; her cherished grandsons, David (Danelle) Wills and Jason Wills; and her dear great-grandchildren Keegan, Jaylie, Izabella, Cooper, Cruz and Domonic. She will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Jean Barker and Barb (Dean) Tucker; and so many family and friends who celebrate she is at peace with her creator.
We will celebrate Eleanor's life on her birthday, April 29th, at a memorial service at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. It will be preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. and followed by joyful remembrance in the church parlor after the service.
Eleanor actively supported and enriched her community in so many ways she would be pleased if you donated in her memory to Meals on Wheels, Faith in Action or First Presbyterian Church.
