Earle W. Baucum, Sr., 92, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Danville, born July 11, 1924, in Madison, Ill., died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Bria of Belleville Nursing Home, Belleville due to cancer.
Mr. Baucum was a resident of Danville from 1952 to 1990. He was a member of St. Paul Parish. He and his wife raised a son and daughter in Danville. Both children attended St. Paul Grade School and Schlarman High School.
While residing in Danville, Mr. Baucum worked for the city fire department, the Therion Glass Company, and as bus driver for the Danville Public School system. He retired from the then Danville Veterans Affairs hospital as a nurse's aide with over 32 years combined federal service.
Mr. Baucum left Danville in 1990 and moved to Springfield, Ill.., for six years, then settling in Belleville from 1996 until his death.
Surviving is his wife, Rosie Lee Baucum; his son, Earle Baucum Jr.; and his daughter, Patricia Baucum, all of Belleville.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill., and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, Ill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, with Msgr. James Margason officiating. Burial with military honors will occur at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
