Doris Good, 90, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born Jan. 17, 1927 in Somerset, Ky., the daughter of Coleman Jones and Cloda (Bolin) Jones Smith.
She married James Virgil Good on Oct. 23, 1949 in Boswell, Ind. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2007.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Jim) Ferrell of Paxton and Betty (Jim) Richards of Hoopeston; one son, Mike (Lori) Good of New Port Richey, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Ferrell, Lauree Parker, Shanna Ferrell, Chelsee Smith, Chris Richards, Kelly Ankenbrand, Jamie Wright, Kyle Richards, Jacklyn Richards; 16 great-grandchildren, Brandon Birchfield, Alexiss Ferrell, Hannah Birchfield, Ben Ferrell, Holly Good, Kaelyn Smith, Liam Parker, Reed Smith, Tyler Wright, Nathan Phillips, Samantha Phillips, Jordan Wright, Taylor Ankenbrand, Charley Wright, Jonathon Herron, and Emma Herron; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Kathleen Jones, Ollavene Hoover, and Evelyn Dase; and one brother, Roy Jones.
Doris worked at the Chronicle Herald in Hoopeston, until her retirement. She was a member of Hoopeston United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and Jobs Daughters. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, bowling, playing games, camping and fishing. Doris also loved to cook, sing and read. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends. Doris had a warm and gentle spirit that everyone loved and will be greatly missed.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A visitation will be held 10 a.m. 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Hoopeston United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St. Hoopeston. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 12 p.m. at the church with Pastor Cathy Najmon and Pastor David Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
