David L. Smith-Bentley, 74, of Danville entered the golden streets of heaven at 12:40 a.m. Dec. 21, 2016.
David was born in Danville on Oct. 26, 1942, the son of Jesse (Joe) and L. Pauline Smith.
Surviving David are his two daughters, Tara Rae (Richard) Zindars, Tahtia Tia Davis; two sisters, Nancy Jo Humphreys, Donna Jean Seelund; five grandchildren, Kristopher Lloyd Smith, Kolby Andrew Strebin, Bentley Wayne Zindars, Porsche Renae Holmes, Sophie Allyn; three special friends, Jordana Sampaio, Lucrecia Shandor and Carl Rice.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph Wayne Smith.
David attended Danville High School, graduating in 1961. He was senior class president and very active in football. He also attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
David was a great entrepreneur. He enjoyed all the finer things in life and lived accordingly. Living for almost 40 years in Florida he could always be found on the beach, treasure hunting with his metal detector or deep sea fishing. David also enjoyed exotic cars, listening to oldies and traveling.
David will truly be missed by everyone he came in contact with.
David's family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life Service 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Rev. James Blue will be officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park immediately following visitation.
