Dale Newmister, 91, of Danville, left us peacefully on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at North Logan Healthcare.
Per his wishes, graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 210.
Dale was born on April 6, 1925, in Ambia, Ind., to Justus and Maude (Mitchell) Newmister. He attended Indiana Schools and was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. Dale served overseas as a scout, and earned two purple hearts for his service. Upon returning from the service, he was owned and operator of Newmister Plating until his retirement in the late 80's. Dale enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and reading anything information and educational he could get his hands on. His family was also very important to him.
Dale married Minnie Graves on March 17, 1947 and the two shared over 58 years together before her passing in December of 2005.
He leaves behind his three daughters: Linda Moulton, Barbara (Eugene) Slowik, and Connie (Robert) Roark; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Minnie; a daughter Debra; a grandson, Brien Begley Jr; and several brothers and sisters, including Glen, his brother and best friend.
