Cynthia S. DeGroat, 69, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Newman Rehab & Healthcare, Newman. She was born on Oct. 24, 1946, in Danville, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Wolcott) Dudley.
She was first wed to John V. Cummins. She later married Vince DeGroat on Feb. 29, 1980, until his passing in 1983.
Cynthia was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed painting, cooking and baking. She loved to play Bingo and visiting with her friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.
Cynthia is survived by John "Mike" (Cindy) Cummins of Homer; her daughter, Molly (Ancil) Carter of Louisville, Ky.; her step-daughter, Polly DeGroat of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Baylee Carter of Louisville, Ky., Jacob Sanders of Tuscola, Angela Hall of Decatur, Brittany Warfel of Villa Grove, and Kaitlyn Irons of Memphis, Tenn.; her six great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Colleen Irons of Danville and lifelong best friend, Cheryl Campbell of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Robert Cummins.
A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 12-2 p.m. on Thursday prior to her service at the funeral home.
