Clara Alta Bartlow, 98, of Hoopeston, Ill., passed away at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.
She was born Nov. 1, 1918, in East Lynn, Ill., the daughter of Haven and Lucille (Staley) Montross.
She married George Gudgel and he preceded her in death. She later married Daryl Bartlow and he also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherrill (Bob) Hinkle of Hoopeston, and Connie Phillips of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two sons, Stephen Gudgel of Berlin, Germany, and Edwin (Paula) Gudgel of Hoopeston; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Sandy Schuler and Dianne Foley; and two brothers, Haven Montross Jr. and Edwin Montross.
Clara loved taking care of people through her work as a L.P.N at the Hoopeston Nursing Home and Hospital. She was a member of Hoopeston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting and loved bird watching.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, with burial to follow.
