Charles F. Heard Jr., 63, went home to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in the comfort of his own home in Danville. Charles was born Nov. 17, 1953, in Chicago. He was born to the holy union of Charles F. Heard Sr. (deceased) and Betty (Oliver) Heard. Charles was formally employed at Illini Skate Land and as a Maintenance Man - Building Supervisor and Covenant Transportation Group as an Over The Road Truck Driver.
Charles Heard was a generous man who was always willing to help someone in need. He regularly checked in on the elderly and disabled in his neighborhood. His hobbies included bike riding, roller skating and landscaping. He was a lover of music with R&B being his favorite. He also loved everything cars, especially detailing them. His most favorite thing to do was to talk about his daughter and grandson whom he was extremely proud of.
Left to cherish his memory are: one daughter, Belinda Frances Heard who has a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management and works as a Talent Acquisition Business Partner; one grandson, Marcus Ryan Blair Jr. (20) who is currently attending Georgia State University. Belinda was born in Danville and currently resides in Atlanta, Ga.; special former companion, Roylean Barnes-Davis and her two beautiful daughters, Jennifer Barnes and Stephanie Barnes, whom he helped raise. All three are former Danville residents who now reside in Jackson, Miss. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother, Betty Heard of Danville, whom is an active member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Charles was her first born and she loved him dearly; one brother, Johnny Prowell of Danville; three sisters, Rochelle (R.C) Porter of San Diego, Calif., Monica Render of Temecula, Calif., and Deborah (Eric) Orington of Champaign. Charles also had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him.
A Memorial Service will commence at noon Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 423 N. Washington Ave. Officiating: Pastor Cortney Watson. Leek & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
