Cecil Kevin Severado, Sr., the fourth child of Clarence Edward and Floy Meadows Severado, made his first of many debuts in life on Sept. 1, 1954. He concluded his Final Act on Monday, June 12, 2017.
Cecil graduated from Danville High School in 1972 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
Cecil was loved so much by family and friends, rivaled only by his love for them. He lived life to its fullest, on a grandiose scale by most standards. His ability to entertain and make people laugh with an inherit humor, wit, and special brand of intelligence was what made Cecil so special to so many.
At a very young age Cecil became interested in baseball. He played for Producer's Little League for several years and eventually became a coach for them lasting well into his 30s.
Cecil met and married the love of his life and his very best friend, Ruby Mae Towns. Together they created a beautiful family, Cecil Kevin Jr. (Jennifer), Ebony Nicole (Freddy) Bullock and Yasmin Claire Florene Severado. Cecil was also "Pops" to another son, Neal (Dacia) Dixon, whom he loved very much.
Cecil was employed in manufacturing at Danville Metal Stamping for several years before making the decision to change careers. He completed the required coursework to become a truck driver, allowing him the opportunity to drive throughout and see this great country before early retirement in 2004.
There are those whose hearts have been forever touched by having been a part of Cecil's life. None, however, so much as the family he leaves behind to cherish his memory and honor his legacy. His children and grandchildren, Austin Rooks, Cevion and Celina Severado; Brielle Bullock; Jaylen & Jayden, Jasiah Severado and Jaliyah Hernandez; Dazjontae Strong-Dixon, Ta'Niyah Dixon, Bryson Cobb, Ru'Nyia Villarreal, Ne'Zyia Dixon will continue to represent his love of life, family, friends, and sports. His brothers Gregory and Shawn, sisters, Gisele (Donald) Orington and Jill (David) Miner, Janice (Leroy) Carter, and Carla Tinsley, will hold him in their hearts forever. His mother, Floy Severado, will forever praise God for the son He gave her to love and nurture until his return home to be with our Heavenly Father.
Cecil is preceded in death by his father, Clarence, three brothers, Butch, Jimmy and Gary and sister, Jerelyn.
"The race is not given to the strongest or the swiftest, but to he who endures to the end." Ecclesiastes 9:11.
