Bobby Stringfellow, 83, of Danville, Ill., passed this life March 19, 2017, at his residence.
He was born March 23, 1933, to Jacob and Mary Bowen Stringfellow.
He married Hattie Cottrell. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and raised five children. Bobby retired from General Motors Central Foundry after 40 years of service.
Bobby was an awesome man with so many amazing qualities. His family looked up to him and he was a role model who supported his family no matter what. He was an extraordinary, hard-working, funny, family oriented and intelligent man. Bobby, now you can do as many crosswords, sudoku and word searches as your heart desires!
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Stringfellow; three daughters, Shelia Stringfellow, Sylvia Stringfellow and Sharon Thomas Wilkins; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Elliott) Abram, Tai Thomas, Whitney Tolliver and Alexis Williams all of Maryland, Kataka Thomas of Texas, and Cameron Stringfellow Ford of Danville; five great-grandchildren, Michael Richardson of Michigan, Marquetta (Aaron) Benn, Ahmad Abram and Ryder Williams all of Maryland, and Jayden Halls of Oklahoma; and five great-great-grandchildren of Michigan. Survivors also include a brother, William Allen (Christine) Stringfellow of Downers Grove, Ill., and a host of relatives and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life will commence at noon Saturday, March 25, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams, Danville. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Kimberly Abram-Bryant, officiant. Elder Tommie Reed, eulogist. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. Public viewing: 1-5 p.m. Friday, March 24, at the funeral home.
