Beverly J. Friedlund, 86, of Sycamore, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
Born Nov. 7, 1929 at home in Rileysburg, Ind., the daughter of Arnold B. and Mary H. (Clawson) Prather. Bev married her best friend and love of her life, Harry R. Junior Friedlund, on April 25, 1970, in DeKalb.
Bev moved to the DeKalb area in 1967, with her children, to work for Blue Van and Storage. After retiring from Blue Van, Bev worked for D Ceramics until becoming the owner of Bevs Ceramics for 11 years. She managed the Pro Shop at Buena Vista Golf Course for many years. Bev was a member of Kishwaukee Hospital Auxiliary working in the craft room, serving as Chair of the Nursing Scholarship Committee for 12 years, and as a special services volunteer. She was an avid bowler, bridge player and golfer.
She is survived by her son, Bradley (Linda) Estock of Ashton; two daughters, Sandy Kilby of Sycamore, and Shelly Friedlund of Lafayette, Ind.; six grandchildren, Stephanie Kilby, Daniel (Stephanie), Rachael and Matthew (Jakki) Estock, Kelsey and Evan Quinn; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and life-long best friend, Annie Stoup of Covington, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Friedlund and her brother, Lawrence Prather.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Fr. Matthew McMorrow of Christ the Teacher Parish in DeKalb celebrating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in DeKalb. A reception will follow burial at the DeKalb Senior Citizens Center.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
