On Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at 5:05 p.m. Bernica D. Thompson, 89 of Georgetown, passed away at North Logan Senior Care Center in Danville.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1927 to Rev. William and Julia Hill in Evanston, Ill.
A mother of nine, her surviving children, Ronald W. Hill, Virgil D. Adkins, Julia L. Hunter, Bernica Thompson, Henry C. Thompson II, Jeri Hutson, Jeanie Tanter, Earl Thompson and 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Patricia Moman, Marva Jean Simmons and one brother-in-law, Eugene "Radio" Thompson.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Earl Thompson of 53 years; their son, Robert H.W. Thompson; and grandson, Clayton Thompson.
A public viewing will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 1-5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, Feb. 23, at Carter CME Church, 448 E. Williams Street, in Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating Pastor Steve Perkins. Interment Spring Hill Cemetery.
