PORTLAND, Tenn. - Barney D. Gillis, 86, of Portland, and formerly of Cayuga, Ind., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tenn.
He was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Cayuga, the son of the late Carl and Goldie (Leach) Gillis.
Barney married LaVonne Gibson on Sept. 10, 1966, in Danville, Ill. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1975.
Survivors include his children, David Matthew Gillis and Melinda Annette (Carl) Threet; three grandchildren, Douglas, Jimi and Latishia; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter due in July.
Barney attended Cayuga High School. He was the former owner of Barney's Snooker Parlor and Diner in Chrisman, Ill.?
