Ardith Alice (Reeves) Orr, 98, of Gifford, Ill., and formerly of Chrisman, Ill., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
Ardith was born April 2, 1918, in Potomac, Ill., to Clell and Hazel (Johnson) Reeves.
She graduated from Potomac High School with high honors and after graduation, worked as secretary for the National Youth Administration (NYA) for the Danville area.
Ardith married Harold Orr on April 26, 1940, in Hannibal, Mo. They farmed in the Chrisman area for over 35 years.
Ardith loved to make scrapbooks and journaling, and was known for sending cards for all occasions. She also enjoyed chocolate and had a lifelong love of animals. Ardith was a member of Stone Creek Church in Rantoul, and was president of the Country Health, Inc. Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nephews, Kris and Mary Forbes and Dan and Cathy Forbes; her care-givers, Iris Elliot and Dewain and Marilyn Moore; and her adopted family, the residents at Pleasant View Manor and all the personnel at Country Health, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant sister, Laura June Reeves; a sister, Eileen Forbes; and a nephew, Bill Forbes Jr.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Stone Creek Church in Rantoul. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman.
