Willie Pearl  Marbury


Willie Pearl Marbury peacefully passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019, at her home in Danville.
Willie Pearl was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Alexander City, Ala., to Tommie and Essie Chapman. She married ML Marbury on May 16. He preceded her in death. From their union they had four children, three sons, ML Jr. (Claudine) Marbury of Oakland, Calif., Eddie Marbury of Parkville, Md., and Anthony Marbury (Charlotte) of Frisco, Texas; and daughter, Juanita Marbury of Danville. She also leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Alberta Joyner of Danville; sisters-in-law, Annie L. Chapman of Alexander City, Ala., and Jerrie R. Chapman of Danville; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Willie Pearl never met a stranger! Her smile, big heart and warm but firm disposition, was the foundation for her constant acts of kindness and love to all who crossed her path. Willie Pearl, a.k.a. Willie, Willie Pearl, Mamaw, Mamo, Bruce Willie, Shorty, Willie P, Mom Marbury, and just plain Mom. To all the friends of her children, their children, and the many other sons and daughters of other mothers; she will be missed.
Willie Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, ML Sr.; her son ML Jr.; four brothers, Tom Chapman, John Chapman, Rufus Chapman, and Joe Chapman; and sisters, Linnie B. Chapman and Lena M. Marbury.
The family of Willie Pearl would like to thank OSF nurses, physical and occupational therapists and staff for their constant care, concern, and unfailing acts of love. Special thanks to the OSF hospice team for their guidance through this transition and difficult journey. The family is most grateful to everyone for their visits, cards, calls, foods, and all acts of kindness and support.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at noon, Monday, May 13, 2019, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating: Pastor U.D. Williams. Burial Springhill Cemetery.
