Willie Mae Key, 77, formerly of Veedersburg, Ind., and Allerton, Ill., passed away at 6:40 p.m. Friday Oct. 27, 2017, at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newman,Ill.
Mrs. Key was born March 30, 1940, in Celina, Tenn., the daughter of Clifford and Bessie B. (Stanford) Hurd. She married her husband of 57 years, T.J. Key April 12, 1956, in Glasgow, Ky.; he has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Dean Eakle, Gwen Owens, Maxine Cross and Linda Faye Franklin.
Surviving family include a daughter, Peggy Jo Key, Sidell, Ill.; a son, Michael (Kimberly) Key, Spirit Lake, Iowa; a brother, Guye (Karen) Hurd, Mellot, Ind.; four grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Reed, Jessica Cole Key, Kayla Renae Amos, Stephen James Key, five great-grandchildren, Maranda Lynn Reed, Russell James Reed, Kendra Leanne Amos, Hunter James Key and Kaysen Dwayne Amos.
Willie was a people person, very outgoing, and was always busy doing a project. She also enjoyed working on her home. She loved her family and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She would do anything for her family and friends. Mom you are a beautiful lady, we miss you but we know the angels are with you and dad now. You were the best wife, mom, and grandma we could have ever dreamed of.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. EST Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Burial will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
