William's Story

Text size

William "Bill" Walters joined his heavenly father on March 9, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born September 3, 1952 to Ruth (Richardson) and Eugene Walters.
Bill graduated from Rend Lake College with an Associates in Business. He was a salesman for several local companies throughout the years. He retired early from Frito Lay, Inc. to enjoy life more and to focus on his passion for golf.
Bill loved his solitude. He never married or had children. He faithfully cared for his mother until her death. He also provided transportation home from dialysis for his sister, Willy the past ten years. He was blessed with friends and family who loved him.
Bill was a Christian. He became a member of Grace Community Church after accepting an invitation to attend services by dear friends. Bill became so enthusiastic about attending services, he invited his family. They are active members today.
In addition to his love for sunny golf courses, Bill was a talented artist and Beatles fan.
Bill is survived by special friends, Ron and Tedra Moser; sister, Wilhelmina "Willy" McDaniel and husband, Don; nieces, Diana Hayes and Michelle Rostollan; and nephews, Mike McDaniel and Steve Walters. Bill is also survived by several great-nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marshall Walters; and sister-in-law, Sharon Walters.
Mr. Walters was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Grace Community Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Pastor Jason Newell officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. with service beginning at 10:30 A.M.
