William "Squibb" Sandusky, 68, of McLeansboro, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
He was born June 4, 1947, in Liberal, Kan., the son of William L. Sandusky and Bonnie Florine (Howk) Sandusky. He married Bobbie G. York.
He was a paramedic employed by Harre Hamilton County Ambulance. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Walpole Tuscan Lodge, Salvation Army Tree of Lights, Past Athletic Booster Club; Past Cubmaster, Hamilton County EMA Director; paramedic instructor; and Road Riders for Jesus Motorcycle Club. He served in the U.S. Army for 28 years as a 1st Sargent. He was a member of National Guard Company A, B and CSC (Combat Support Co), National Guard Unit 66 Brigade, 130th Infantry 3rd Batallion. He was a member of First General Baptist Church, McLeansboro; a deacon; a Sunday school teacher; and a Sunday school director on the General Baptist Association Council
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Sandusky of McLeansboro; wife, Bobbie Gail Sandusky of McLeansboro; one son, Will Sandusky and wife Beth; two daughters, Leighanna Browning and Stephanie Chambliss and husband Jake; one brother, Fred Sandusky of McLeansboro; grandchildren, Camron, Creed, Londynn and Maihaleigh Browning, Lane and Morgan Schumm; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Mary York; brother-in-law, Scott York and wife Krissy; and sister-in-law, Angela Baker and husband Barry.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister-in-law Ramona Sandusky and grandbaby Chambliss.
Visitation was held 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at First General Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Moore officiating. Burial was at Hopewell Cemetery in McLeansboro. Graveside military rites were accorded by American Legion Post 106, McLeansboro and Military Honor Team of Marion.
As per Bill's request, please no flowers. Contributions be made to trust fund for the William Sandusky Grandchildren Fund and will be accepted at the church and at Harre Funeral Home.
