William “Bill” Loehr, 82, of Fairfield and formerly of Dahlgren, died 5:58 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield. He was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Belle Rive, the son of Richard and Christina Ewald Loehr. He married Inez Ives Horn; she preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers and sisters, Larry Loehr and wife Berniece of St. Charles, Ralph Loehr and wife Judy of Elgin, Ruthaleen Hart and husband David of Dahlgren and Geraldine Moore of Dahlgren; a sister-in-law, Alleta Loehr of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are children Ruby Clevenger, Donny Horn, Paulette Sweat, Pat Lahon and Betty Dugan; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Loehr; a sister, Leanna Kelly; and a grandson, Vance Horn; a son, Carrol Horn; and a daughter, Charlotte Fulkerson. He was a retired auto body repairman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahglren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Jan. 2 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren. Father Slaomir Ptak will conduct the funeral mass. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Dahlgren with graveside military rites accorded by McLeansboro American Legion Post 106. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Gholson Funeral Home of Dahlgren is in charge of arrangements.
