William's Story

William "Bill" Henry Fleming, 97, of Hoopeston, passed away at 8:33 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
Mr. Fleming was born April 3, 1919, in Hoopeston, the son of Jay William and Eva Maude (Humbert) Fleming.
He married L. Wauneta Dale on Nov. 29, 1975, in Dyersburg, Ind. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1986.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Jay Fleming; and two sisters, Maysel Frump and Regina Kayner.
Mr. Fleming served in the United States Army from 1940 to 1943. He worked as a painter for Silver Brothers in Hoopeston for several years. He enjoyed walking and spending time with his friends and family.
A Celebration of William "Bill" Henry Fleming's Life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Blurton Funeral Home in Hoopeston with Pastor Randy Walters officiating. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384.
