William Dale Edwards, 80, of Hoopeston, passed away at 3:54 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born at home in Hoopeston on Jan. 5, 1938, the son of Russell and Flossie Mae (Agee) Edwards. He married Carol Marie Lewis on April 25, 1964, at the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene. She survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by one daughter, Kim Edwards (special friend, Billy Greene) of Danville; one sister, Carolyn Albertson of Marion, Ind.; two grandchildren, Douglas (Jami) Brookwalter of Wellington, and Rossanna (Justin) Curtis of Penfield; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Triton and Kandyce Curtis and Vylet, Cameron, Lexi, and Brycen Brookwalter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Johnathon; three sisters, Lilli, Golden, and Thelma; and four brothers, Jim, Ray, Jerry and Fred.
Dale worked at Stokely's in Hoopeston for 43 years. He enjoyed fishing in Florida, caring for his lawn, taking morning walks and loved watching western shows, especially Gun Smoke.
A visitation will be held 4 -7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
