William Lee Crosby Sr., 63, of Danville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center.
William Lee, was born to the union of Addie Mae (Keys) Crosby and Sam Crosby Sr. on Sept. 25, 1953 in Danville.
William attended Danville Schools and later returned to Danville Area Community College, where he studied Horticulture and received his certification.
William married his wife, Sharon Denise Cobb, on Sept. 8, 1990. In 1997, him, along with his wife, were the founders of Word of Faith Apostolic Church in Danville, where he was the Pastor.
William enjoyed reading the Bible, praying, fishing, listening to music, spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. One of his favorite sayings was "Are you having fun?" because it was important to him for others to enjoy life as he did.
William leaves to cherish his memory and life: wife, Sharon Crosby; seven sons: William Crosby Jr., Michael (Lorrie) Crosby, Larry Crosby all of Champaign and Willie Beasley, Marcous (Audrey) Crosby, Jordan Crosby all of Danville; five daughters: Tereana Crosby, Brittany Crosby, Alexis Crosby, Whitney Crosby all of Danville and Paula Crosby of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Nereida Noemi Crosby of Champaign; two brothers, Sam (Roberta) Crosby Jr., and Stanley (Pamela) Crosby; five sisters: Ola (William) Wynn, Chris (Thereon) Bell Sr., Linda (Ray) Hillsman, LaVonna Brown Crosby all of Danville and Patricia (Robert) Miller of Southaven, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Addie Mae Crosby; two sons, Leon and William Lee "Scooter" Crosby III; great-granddaughter, Sarai Ariel Crosby; two sisters, Rose Mae Forthenberry and Debra Jackson; paternal grandparents, Columbus and Izola Crosby; and maternal grandparent, Hurk and Pinky Keys.
A Home Going Celebration will commence at 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Viewing will be from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams. Officiating: Pastor Bobby R. Keys Sr. Interment will be at Sanhill Memorial Park.
